Discovered in 1830, near the village of Berthouville, Normandy when a farmer's plow struck an ancient tile, below which were about 90 silver objects dating to the height of the Roman empire. This book features the Getty exhibition "Ancient Luxury and the Roman Silver Treasure from Berthouville," which includes the enitire Berthouville treasure and other Roman objects from the holdings of the Cabinet des médailles.
