Octavo (22 cm), pp. 356. First trade edition after the two-volume limited Derrydale edition of 1939. Tan cloth boards with black spine text and fish illustrations on spine and front board. Green pictorial jacket. Illustrated throughout with black and white drawings and two color plate by T. (Tommy) Brayshaw. Minor bumping to edges and jacket is heavily chipped with top of spine and front corner missing. "A native of British Columbia, Mr. Haig-Brown was an outspolen conservationist who wrote extensively about many aspects of the subject. His notoriety as an author however, is mostly due to his angling books. His fly-fishing books are all important works, especially The Western Angler."
