Dark blue full-calf with gilt-stamped titling, borders, dentelles, fishing and dry fly motifs, and gilt top edge. In fine, dark blue cloth-covered slipcase, with marbled endpapers, followed by pictorial spread of riverine solitary fishing scene. Includes preface by Gingrich, foreword and introduction by McDonald, illustrations by Robert Ball, and appendices (Bruns, M116). Gordon was a fly-fishing hermit who wrote under the pseudonym Badger Hackle. His writings are credited with popularizing dry-fly fishing in America. His work was compiled by McDonald (author of the Origins of Angling) after his death into this volume, which was originally published in 1947. First Edition.
